Bios:
Dr. Nicholas Clarke is Professor of Organisational Behaviour & HRM and Deputy Dean at University of Kent Business School, having previously held chairs at EADA Business School in Barcelona, Loughborough University, and the University of Southampton Business School in the UK. He has held visiting professor positions at Toulouse Business School, and the Universitat of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and currently at the University of Southampton in the UK. Nicholas has spent the past 15 years building a major body of research advancing our understanding of how the quality of work relationships (manager- subordinate relations, team relations, social relations) influence the effectiveness and outcomes of leadership and leadership development in organisations. His work examining the role of emotional intelligence and respect in relationship quality has resulted in invitations to give presentations at conferences and seminars in the UK and internationally, coverage in the national press, as well as consultancy on leadership development to the energy company N-Power, Rolls Royce Fuel Systems, and the UK Home Office. He chaired the professional standards working party of the European Council of Coaching and Mentoring and sits on the on the editorial boards of a number of journals in his field. His recent work explores the role of respect as part of more socially responsible leadership. His recent book, Relational Leadership: Theory, Practice and Development was published by Routledge in 2018.
Dr. Thomas Garavan is Professor of Leadership Practice in Cork University Business School at University College Cork, Ireland. He is a world leading expert in leadership development, learning and development and HRD. He has published 185 journal articles, 16 books, 26 book chapters and 6 monographs, including extensively in the leading HRD journals, the top four HRM journals and leading management journals. His most recent book publications include Learning and Development in Organizations: A Systems-Informed Model of Effectiveness (published by Palgrave), and Strategic Human Resource Management (published by Oxford University Press). He is co-editor of European Journal of Training and Development and Associate Editor of Personnel Review. Thomas has extensive teaching experience with undergraduate, post-graduate and post experience students in addition to executive education and leadership development. He was recently elected to the Hall of Fame of the Academy of Human Resource Development, USA and has won numerous awards for publications as well as journal editing.
Dr. Kibum Kwon is Assistant Professor in the Department of Higher Education and Learning Technologies at Texas A&M University-Commerce and teaches graduate courses in the Organization, Learning and Technologies program. He holds a Ph.D. in Workforce Education and Development from Pennsylvania State University. He served as an HRD manager for a Fortune 500 company, where he designed the talent strategy and implemented enterprise-wide programs to drive talent development initiatives. His research focuses on human capital investment, talent development, and employee engagement, as well as statistical methods for longitudinal data analysis.
