Bios:
Dr. Ellen Scully-Russ is Associate Professor of Human and Organizational Learning at The George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development. Ellen’s scholarship and practice are focused on the role of Adult Education in meeting the individual and the political-economic challenges of the emerging knowledge society. She also has more than 25 years of experience as a workplace learning and workforce development practitioner in a wide range of industries including health care, telecommunications, manufacturing, hospitality, and the public sector.
Dr. Eugene Sadler-Smith is Professor of Organizational Behaviour at Surrey Business School, University of Surrey, in the UK. Prior to becoming an academic, Eugene worked in HRD in the gas industry and he completed his PhD part-time on the subject of cognitive styles whist working in industry. He has taught HRD at masters level all his academic career and has written two textbooks on the subject: Learning and Development for Managers (published by Blackwell in 2006) and Human Resource Development: From Theory into Practice (published by SAGE in 2023). His research interests are intuition in decision-making and hubris in leadership.
Dr. Maria Cseh who, for the past 15 years, has served as the Director of the Human and Organizational Learning (HOL) Doctoral Program at The George Washington University. Maria holds a B.S./M.S. degree in electronics engineering, a M.A. in business administration with a focus on international management, and a Ph.D. in adult education with a specialization in global human resource development. Maria’s research interests include informal learning, organizational development and change, global leadership, and the development of global mindset and cultural competence. She serves on Advisory Boards of international journals and has been elected for two terms on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Human Resource Development.
